Once you have completed Lungeing the Horse you will be able to:

  1. Talk about the reasons for lungeing a horse.

  2.  Discuss factors which may affect the lungeing process, including:

    • health and safety for the handler and horse

    • circle size.

    • the horse's behaviour. 

    • the surface and area to lunge in.

    • suitable and unsuitable weather conditions.

    • the presence of other equines whilst lungeing. 

  3. Discuss inappropriate lungeing techniques, including:

    • body position.

    • voice commands.

    • use of equipment.

    • exercise programme.

  4. Put on, fit and remove lungeing equipment, including:

    • a lunge cavesson.

    • side reins.

    • roller or saddle.

    • secure stirrups for safety on a saddle.

  5. Handle the lunge line correctly and safely.

  6. Lunge a horse for exercise correctly and safely.

  7. Evaluate the lunge session.
