The horse's face is a delicate area, so grooming must be done carefully and gently.
In the exam, depending on the horse you are handling, you can either:
Use your free hand to steady the horse’s head.
Using a soft brush, follow the direction of the hair on the horse’s face, avoiding their eyes and nostril.
If the horse’s face is muddy, use your fingers, cactus cloth or grooming mitt to remove heavy areas of mud. Once the majority of the mud is removed, groom the hair flat with a soft face brush.
