Once you have completed Saddlery & Tacking Up you will be able to:

  1. Name the parts of the saddle and bridle. 

  2. Recognise and name different types of:

    • reins.

    • girths. 

    • nosebands.

    • saddle accessories.

    • snaffle bits.

  3. Put on and remove a snaffle bridle. 

  4. Put on and remove a saddle. 

  5. Fit a snaffle bridle and saddle.

  6. Fit a snaffle bit.

  7. Put on and remove a running/standing martingale.

  8. Fit a running/standing martingale. 

  9. Put on, fit, and remove brushing boots.

  10. Perform safety checks on tack.

  11. Identify and discuss the effects of ill-fitting tack.

  12. Discuss the purposes of checking tack for safety and comfort.

  13. Clean tack.

  14. Take apart and re-assemble a snaffle bridle.

  15. Explain the importance of keeping tack clean.
