Once you have completed Saddlery & Fitting Tack you will be able to:

  1. Tack up for flatwork, including:

    • putting on, fitting & removing a double bridle.

    • put on, fit & remove a dressage saddle.

  2. Analyse flatwork tack, including:

    • use & suitability of the double bridle.

    • action of the double bits.

    • use & suitability of the dressage saddle.

    • condition of the tack.

  3. Put on & remove both an exercise & polo bandage, plus be able to explain:

    • dangers of fitting bandages incorrectly.

    • benefits & limitations of exercise or polo bandages.

    • how to secure a bandage when riding XC.

  4. Tack up a horse for jumping/x-country, including:

    • putting on & fitting an over-girth, plus be able to discuss the purpose of using one.

    • putting on & fitting a 5 point breastplate.

    • securing cross country boots using tape.

  5.  Analyse jumping tack, including:

    • use & suitability of: 

      • the jumping saddle.

      • the bridle. 

      • different types of martingales & breastplates.

      • different types of nosebands. 

    • condition of the tack. 

    • the consequences of using ill-fitting or the wrong tack.

    • how to care for the working horse.

  6. Fit a saddle to a horse.
