Once you have completed Care of the Horse's Hooves you will be able to:

1. Discuss and have knowledge about the purpose of shoeing & trimming hooves.

2. Remove a shoe correctly.

3. Have knowledge about the 6 phases of shoeing a horse, including:

   • removal of the shoe. 

   • dressing the foot. 

   • preparing the shoe. 

   • fitting the shoe. 

   • nailing on. 

   • finishing off. 

4. Know the requirements for the horse and farrier when shoeing.

5. Identify the parts of the concave fullered shoe.

6. Talk about the signs of a well maintained foot.
