Enter the trailer through the jockey door, a small door at the front of the trailer, and untie the horse.
(If you have an assistant: instruct them to undo the breeching strap and open the partition).
Duck under the breast bar and ask the horse to step backwards, remaining straight.
Reverse the horse out keeping them straight and slow, this helps prevent them falling off the edge of the ramp.
If the horse is nervous or novice the assistant can stand on the edge of the ramp with their hand on the horse’s quarters. They should talk to them as they walk down the ramp, this will help build their confidence.
