Storage of Tools

Tools should be stored undercover in a designated, safe area, inaccessible to horses. If left around the yard, they can be a hazard to both humans and animals.

Metal tools will rust if they are stored outdoors.

Storage of Bales

Unwrapped bedding or hay must be stored in dry, airy conditions. A closed-sided barn will offer them full protection against getting wet and mouldy.

Plastic wrapped bales can either be stored in an open-sided barn or outdoors. If they are kept outside they should ideally be covered with tarpaulin to offer extra protection.

All bales should be stacked on top of wooden crates, this helps prevent the bottom bales getting ruined.

An empty stable is adequate for storing a few small bales in, but they must be out of reach of the horses.
