Once you have completed Horse Health you will be able to:

Discuss and have knowledge about routine health procedures including:

parasite control and de-worming procedures.

vaccinations.

the horse's teeth.

shoeing.

Administer an oral syringe.

Describe the clinical signs of lameness.

Discuss different types of wounds and external bleeds.

Explain and perform different first aid treatments, including:

treating wounds.
-
cold treatments.

heat treatments.
-
tubbing a foot.
-
poulticing a foot.
-
Put on and remove stable bandages.
-
Discuss and understand the purposes of using stable bandages and the dangers of fitting them incorrectly.

Know when a vet should be called out for the horse.

Discuss common health issues including:
-
colic.
-
mud fever.
-
acute skin conditions.
-
respiratory conditions.
-
types of lamenesses.
-
Care for equines who are unwell.
