Benefits of Boots:
Offers protection to the lower limbs.
Offers protection to the knees and hocks.
Quick and easy to fit.
Quick and easy to remove.
Limitations of Boots:
Do not offer support to the lower limbs.
Can slip if not fitted correctly.
The thick padding can make the horse’s legs overheat.
Certain horses do not like the feel of the thick boot.
Benefits of Bandages:
Offer support to the lower limbs.
Offers protection for the lower limbs.
Good for using if the horse has a leg injury.
Limitations of Bandages:
You must be proficient at bandaging.
Time consuming to fit.
Difficult to remove quickly if the horse is excitable when coming off the transport.
Unless using travel fibergee, they do not cover the knee or hock.
The horse’s legs can overheat.
